Construction of roadway improvements on Moulton Parkway, from west of Santa Maria Avenue to El Pacifico are currently underway.
El Toro Road Pavement Rehabilitation Project In October and November 2009, the City repaved El Toro Road eastbound, from the City's border with Laguna Beach to just west of the intersection with Calle Sonora using rubberized asphalt.
Ridge Route Linear Park The City of Laguna Woods began construction of the Ridge Route Linear Park along the unpaved portion of Ridge Route Drive in September 2008. The project includes imporvements to a Place for Paws and is scheduled to be completed in March 2009.
Laguna Woods Moulton Parkway Smart Street Project The City is is completing the acquisition of property for the Moulton Parkway Smart Street improvement. This project will NOT add new traffic lanes to Moulton; it will add sidewalks, bicycle lanes and left and right turn lanes. Although the City continues to negotiate with the property owner of record - the Golden Rain Foundation of Laguna Woods (GRF) - for the acquisition of the last parcels required for the improvement, the City Council adopted a resolution of intention to proceed with eminent domain on several of the required parcels at its January 21, 2009 meeting. A portion of this project is partially funded with grant funding that may be lost if construction does not commence this year. The City continues to negotiate with GRF and is hopefully that a mutually acceptable agreement on all of the the required acquisitions will be reached.
