AGENDA DESCRIPTION: The Agenda descriptions are intended to give notice, to members of the public, of a general summary of items of business to be transacted or discussed. Any person wishing to address the Community Services Committee on any matter, whether or not it appears on this agenda, may do so under the appropriate section of the agenda. Whenever possible, lengthy testimony should be presented to the Committee in writing (12 copies) and only pertinent points presented orally. Requests to speak to items on the agenda shall be heard at the appropriate point on the agenda; requests to speak about subjects not on the agenda will be heard during the Public Comment section of the meeting.

A. Arts and Culture Programs

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Review the recommendations of the Arts and Culture subcommittees, and approve recommendations to the City Council to allocate $9,750 in Arts and Culture funds to support: ¨ Free entry into the Orange County Museum of Art and Laguna Art Museum for up to 1,000 residents each (500 passes per museum, admitting 2 persons each), and allocate $2,000 for the purchase of the passes. ¨ Buying down the cost by $15.00 each of Laguna Playhouse admission tickets for 125 residents for each of the two remaining performances this season, and allocate $3,750 for this program. ¨ Bus rental for three arts and culture tours, focusing on architecture and ethnicity, in March, May and June, and allocate $2,000 for their rental.

B. Human Relations
1. Orange County Human Relations Commission Membership

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Consider and recommend approval to the City Council that the City of Laguna Woods join the partnership of cities, county, courts, schools and private sector that supports the Orange County Human Relations Commissions, and pay $1,890 in dues for Fiscal Year 2000-2001.

2. Laguna Woods Human Relations Committee

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Consider and recommend to the City Council the establishment of a Laguna Woods Human Relations Committee to focus attention and resources on maintaining good community relations.
