AGENDA DESCRIPTION: The Agenda descriptions are intended to give notice, to members of the public, of a general summary of items of business to be transacted or discussed. 

 

Any person wishing to address the Water Quality Committee on any matter, whether or not it appears on this agenda, may do so under the appropriate section of the agenda.   Whenever possible, lengthy testimony should be presented to the Committee in writing (12 copies) and only pertinent points presented orally.  Requests to speak to items on the agenda shall be heard at the appropriate point on the agenda; requests to speak about subjects not on the agenda will be heard during the Public Comment section of the meeting.

A.    2005 Inter-Coastal Watershed Cleanup/City Proclamation

 

Staff will provide a history and overview of the event, past City participation and this year’s proposals for a Laguna Woods event. 

 

Recommended Action: Provide a recommendation to City Council for support of the proposed Inter-Coastal Cleanup Day event and adoption of a proclamation in support of the event.

     

 B.   Water Conservation Subcommittee Report

 

The subcommittee will update and discuss with the full Committee its efforts in developing proposals and concepts for promoting water conservation programs, education and outreach.

 

Recommended Action: Provide the subcommittee and Staff direction for the continued development of a water conservation education and outreach program.

 

 C.   New Stormwater Program Educational Material

 

Staff is proposing to add two new educational flyers and a door hanger to the City’s Standards handouts. The handouts are entitled “Tips for Projects Using Paint” and “Tips for Home Improvement”.  The door hanger outlines common stormwater violations and will be used as both an educational and code enforcement tool. 

 

Recommended Action: Support the use of the proposed educational and outreach material in the City Stormwater Program.
