Electricity Technical Assistance for Residents

(By: | Composed: 07/09/02 | Modified: 07/09/02)

In July, the City initiated a new program that provides technical assistance to residents who want to make physical changes to their homes to conserve energy. If you are thinking about installing a heat pump, thermostat timer, evaporative cooler or some other energy saving device, but are unsure if it will work in your home, you will now be able to call the City and speak to a building specialist. We can send someone to visit your home to conduct an energy audit and discuss chnages you can make. We will also provide information about the permit process and if a city or homeowner association permit is required. And, we have information about rebates that are offered for energy efficent equipment and the process to obtain a rebate.

There is no cost to residents for this program.

Everyone's life style and use of electricity is distinct. While the installation of energy savings devices generally result in a reduction in electricity usage, the City cannot gurantee that the installation of any particular piece of equipment will result in any particular cost savings. The purpose of the City's program is to assist residents in deciding whether or not equipment can be installed in their home.

If you are interested in scheduling an appointment to have the City's electricity building specialist come to your home, or if you would like more information about this program, call 949-639-0500.
