Greening the Woods
. The 4Rs - Reduce, Reuse, Rethink and Recycle!

The City of Laguna Woods is working toward a goal of zero waste and asking resident to remember the 4Rs.

·         Reduce the amount you consume

·         Find constructive reuses for “waste material”

·         Rethink and shift your consumption to smart products and services

·         And toss it in the blue recycling bin, but only as the last resort.

A good example of recycling is tossing your empty water bottles in a recycling bin. But by "rethinking" and using a water filter and reusable container you can reduce or completely eliminate your need for disposable plastic bottles. Check out the articles in this section for information about how you can help yourself and the planet. For more information, click on the section title "Greening the Woods."

Historical Society of Laguna Woods
. Digital Storytelling

The City of Laguna Woods and the Historical Society of Laguna Woods partnered with OC Public Libraries on a digital storytelling project to record, preserve, and share stories of "California of the Past."  Digital storytelling combines emerging technology, community partnerships, and local history to create short videos with a glimpse of the past.  Stories featuring Laguna Woods residents detailed the historic past, immigration stories, World War II memories, and farmland tales.  To view the stories that were collected, as well as other stories from throughout Orange County, visit http://orangecounty.blip.tv.  You can also contact the Historical Society at 206-0150 if you wish to view DVD copies.
